Measurement Scene

Measurement Scene Investigator Tool

This new offering from Marquette University 's GasDay lab is a service that analyses LDC commercial and industrial natural gas flow data. An advanced set of mathematical modeling techniques are used to review meter data and identify flow patterns for outliers and abnormalities.

This service can be used as often as every two weeks to perform a retrospective evaluation of recent flow. The result of this process is a report and set of graphical analytical tools that are used to manage emerging issues with customers' natural gas flow. This allows an LDC to be proactive in addressing issues like:

  • failing metering equipment, or metering equipment that is improperly installed
  • changes in end-users' patterns that reflect changes in their business, which may be cause for tariff changes
  • over- or under-billing customers for their natural gas consumption. Often developing errors can be detected within a single billing period.
